Many More Monsters...

Walt Disney Pictures has bought the spec script "Monster Witness Protection Program" by Ahmet Zappa and Michael Wilson, for a future Will Smith Jr. starring vehicle...

Wha? I know, sounds strange and it is. But the Mouse wants the script for Jaden Smith, whom is not yet attached to star. Zappa wrote a novel called "The Monstrous Memoirs of a Mighty McFearless" that Disney was planning on turning into a film. That project currently resides in a very rarely seen land in Disneyland called Development Hell-land.

Hopefully, this project won't wind up with the other Monsters...

Mouse Gets Annoying...

Walt Disney Studios has bought the spec script "The World's Most Annoying Man" from Kevin Kopelow and Heath Seifert with the intent of Andy Fickman producing.

The story is about a man who is forced to travel cross-country with his extremely annoying brother to reach his own wedding in time.

Hilarity ensues...

Fickman(whose company Oops Doughnuts production company is shingled on the Mouse's Lot) is the director of the upcoming March release "Race to Witch Mountain" from Disney.

Bastards No Mouse...

It appears all the buzz about Quentin Tarantino's new script "Inglorious Bastards" being acquired by Miramax turned out to be not true... The Weinstein Company appears to have gotten the cash necessary to make the film without having to kneel before the Mouse for funding...

Oh well, such is life... Such is Hollywood... Such is Harvey...

Disney Adopts Bastard...

It appears that Harvey Weinstein can't get away from Miramax even after the very public divorce he had with the Mouse a few years ago. When his company, The Weinstein Company failed to secure financing for Quentin Tarantino's latest script, "Inglorious Bastards", the scribe sent out the script to several studios for financing and the winner was...

Miramax.

Weinstein's old home will distribute both films(yes it will be two films, ala: Kill Bill) domestically and Harvey will produce. Interesting how fate can play you a very funny hand sometimes, eh?

BTW, I'll have a review of "Inglorious Bastards" up in the coming weeks as I'm just about half-way through reading it...

Disney Wins Science Fair...

Walt Disney Studios has purchased the spec script "Science Fair" after a bidding war with Walden Media whom the Mouse has been producing the Narnia series with. The price Sullivan got for the script is $275,000 against $575,000.

Described as a "Night in the Museum" type story, it concerns a science fair where all the kids projects come to life and wreak havoc upon the school. Walt Disney Studios president Oren Aviv and executive vp production and development Brigham Taylor were directly involved in the acquisition.

Disney Wedding Banned...

Looks like the Mouse likes expensive weddings...

Walt Disney Studios' Touchstone Pictures has made a preemptive strike and paid deal $850,000 versus $1.6 million, in deal for the script "Wedding Banned".

The script is a comedy written by Jack Amiel and Michael Begler about a long-divorced couple that kidnap their daughter on the day of her wedding to stop her from making the mistakes they made. Over the course of the chase as they evade cops and the groom they find that maybe they still have love for each other.

Disney Pays More For Hours Of Fun...

The Mouse and Scott Rudin have hired John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein to rewrite Greg Pace's family comedy screenplay "Hours of Fun".

The story is that of two friend since childhood who ordered all those novelty toys from the back of a comic book(of which, I'm guilty buying those darn Sea-Monkeys)...

Decades later, the toys they bought start living up to the crazy advertising claims and force the pair to save the town from the chaos that follows.

The Suit in charge for the Mouse is an executive named Todd Murata. More of Orin Aviv's plan unfolds.

Interesting...

Mickey Buys A New Pet...

The Mouse has signed David Silverman("The Simpsons Movie") to develop and direct the live-action sci-fi family comedy "The Pet" for Walt Disney Pictures. Scott Rudin and Craig Perry are producing the film whose screenplay was written by Matt Lieberman. The story centers on an everyday-kind-of-man who becomes abducted by a group of aliens and becomes their pet.

Hilarity ensues...

We will see next year if Mickey's pet was worth buying or should've been sent back to the pound. Pluto was not immediately available for comment.

Mouse Buys Disney Guide...

Walt Disney Pictures has purchased the spec script "Self-Guided" in the mid-six figures by Jared Stern with David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman attached to produce through their Mandeville Films.

The tale focuses on a man who finds himself back in high school as a guidance counselor so he can give advice to his younger self.
