So we finally know what Tim Burton's "Frankenweenie" will look like...
If you're going to pic up the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, then you'll see these shots from the film in a nice article about the film/man. We now have a sense as to what the director meant when saying to would be in black and white. It certainly has that "Burtonesque" quality to it. The dog, Sparky, looks exactly like the design that he did for Brad Bird's "Family Dog" that ran on Amazing Stories back in the Eighties. And the picture of the character of the boy that brings his pet back to life bares a striking resemblance to the lead character in the Disney short that Tim did called "Vincent" back when the Studio had no idea what to do with him.
It'll be interesting seeing if this film turns out more like "The Nightmare Before Christmas" or "The Corpse Bride."

HAHA! Nicely put Anonymous #1. Corpse Bride was awful. I can't believe that it received good reviews...I mean that's a freaking boring film.
I found Corpse Bride and The Nightmare Before Christmas both to be good films... but I will say that Tim Burton's more recent works are crap. :/
Lol, I remember Family Dog!! I don't remember if I thought it was funny or not but I remember watching it. I really like Tim Burton, he thinks outside the box and we need more people in Hollywood like him! I can't wait to see this movie and hope it is worth all the hype!
Burton had little to nothing to do with the original Family Dog. That was Brad Bird all the way (creator, writer, director).
It took Burton to ruin it all with a series Speilberg (someone who knows very little about animation) after Bird decided to help create a show more about "writing" than about pantomime animation (which means time and money) called "The Simpsons."
Created 4 years after the original Family Dog shorts that aired on Amazing Stories in 1986, the series flopped after 2 episodes. The other 10 episodes, cheaply produced and badly written with no input from Bird, never aired.
Nightmare before Christmas is a terrible film. Certainly Henry Selick has done better (Coraline) and worse (Monkeybone).
Nightmare & Corpse Bride are both fantastic films; if this movie is anywhere close, it will be a welcome addition to Burton's impressive filmography.
Looks good, looks to be one of his more low brow films like Ed Wood rather than a jumbled mess like Alice in Wonderland. I love films of Burton, like Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands, and this looks really good. I keep getting annoyed though that people say Burton directed Nightmare Before Christmas.
That's pretty cool! Family dog was great and always love what Tim Burton does so looking forward to it!
