Iger, party of one, your table is waiting...
As work progresses on DCA, a lot of people are wondering what will be happening in the top of the Carthay Circle Theater...
Most of you know that the building will not actually be a theater, but have a high end restaurant on the top floor and more modest accommodations down below. But everyone is wondering what the new joint will likely be know as.
"1901"
That's right. That is the name of the new, premium restaurant in the park that the Suits are looking to use. Named as most of you know, for the year Walter Elias Disney was born.
The final approval hasn't been given, but it's the name that everyone seems to like. The menu is still being worked on, but you can expect a high caliber place along the lines of the Blue Bayou, but not quite the exclusive Club 33 type that the Suits and WDI was aiming for. Until the park starts to develop a mystique of its own, regular guests will be able to attend for dinner. The 33 Members will have to stay content with a private lounge.
A decade from now, we'll see...

Hope the food is better than Blue Batyou!!
Pretty cool name. Love the nod to Walt and history.
I think that is so cool and actually, I am glad that it won't be a private membership only restaurant.
Hoping for something on the level of the Brown Derby in Florida. Fingers crossed!
Glad they're giving a nod to Walt. It was his park, after all.
"1901"?
A little odd since the Carthay Circle Theatre on San Vicente Boulevard opened in 1926. And also odd since the Buena Vista Street area is being themed for the early 1920s, Main Street USA is the one that is themed for circa 1901.
There must have been better names that they could have chosen. Circles Restaurant, Club Vicente, something to do with Snow White...
Why are they assuming that DCA can support such a high end restaurant? Didn't the original fiasco with tons of restaurant closures tell them anything? This is wishful thinking and rather foolish, but its their money to waste. They should go with a fast casual restaurant with al fresco dining.
Don't get logical with that park "1901?"
1420 threw logic out the window on that one a long time ago!
they would be foolish to not include snow white artwork in the carthay building. glad that this won't be an exclusive dining experience due to it being so out in the public. leave the private clubs for more hidden/obscure locations (i.e. club 33).
Wait, so no actual theater for movies? If not movies then they could of at least included a small theater of sorts showcasing the developmental process of the Snow White. That would of been nice.
The castle in Disneyland isn't really a castle. Why would the theater in California Adventure bother you that it's not a theater?
Because the castle is a FICTIONAL place. The Carthay Circle was a real theatre as famous for its 30s premieres as the Chinese was and because it's importance to Disney is all about Snow White.
