Burton To Leave Audiences In Stitches...

Tim Burton talked to Sci-Fi Wire about his Frankenweenie project for Walt Disney Pictures:

"We're going to do that real low-budget. The thing that excites me about it and that will make it different is that when I look at my original drawings, there are certain things that are in those that I couldn't get in the live action when I made the film. So I'm quite excited to try to get a certain emotion and other characters in the new version, and I want to make it a slightly bigger story."

It appears Burton is really excited about the possibilities of exploring his pet project from his formative years on the Disney lot. I can't wait to see some artwork for this film.

Alice In Ed Woodland?

Tim Burton will be directing a live-action/motion capture version of "Alice in Wonderland" after he finishes "Sweeny Todd" according to today's Variety.

It's all part of a two picture deal that Oren Aviv, Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group's Head Suit put together. The script for the Alice remake/redo was written by Linda Woolverton("The Lion King," "Beauty and the Beast") with Richard Zanuck, Joe Roth and Suzanne and Jennifer Todd producing. Filming will begin at the beginning of the year and wrap in May.

Once "Alice" is in the can, Burton will direct and produce the full motion picture adaption of his 1984 short, "Frankenweenie". That picture will be done old style in stop-motion like Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas".

The Mouse is really cozying up to Burton it seams. Personally, I look forward to "Frankenweenie" more than a remake of "Alice"... although I did enjoy his "Sleepy Hollow" remake. I wonder how Johnny Depp would look as the Mad Hatter?

And Tim Burton's Disney Project Is...

It appears that the cat may be out of the bang concerning the project Tim Burton could be directing for the Mouse.

Ain't It Cool News has a source that is saying the film will be a stop-motion full length feature of Tim's classic short "Frankenweenie".

For those that have never seen this jewel, it is about a young boy named Victor Frankenstein whose dog, Sparky is hit by a car. Victor then brings Sparky back to life in a parody of Mary Shelley's book "Frankenstein". It's quite bizarre, but very entertaining... although I prefer Burton's "Vincent" to it...

We'll find out in a few weeks if the rumor is true.

Tim Burton Returns To The Mouse?

Over at Aint It Cool News they have a report from a student on an advance screening of "Enchanted" that is pretty positive. The reviewer thinks it's definately the right direction Disney should be going.

But the big news is what was said afterwards...

Dick Cook let loose some surprising info the reviewer said: "He said that the project would be helmed by the creative mastermind behind the majority of stop-motion pictures in the last decade. Our Dean looked at him slyly and asked, "This guy has never worked with Danny Elfman before has he?".

Sounds pretty exciting... I wonder if this was in the works before Tim had his meeting with Pixar a while back? Maybe he got along well with Uncle John. Hmmm...
