Brave Art...

No, this isn't a piece about some artist's exhibit that was banned from a showing...

It seems that Entertainment Weekly got their hands on some concept art of Pixar's "Brave" for a first look at the feature for their latest issue. It's lovely, especially that first piece (notice the bear?). It'll be interesting to see how they handle their first fairy tale/princess film. We'll find out by summer of next year. We should be getting a teaser for this by the end of this summer/beginning of fall.

Speaking of which, by the time this film comes out, the Mouse should hopefully have released another schedule showing us the road map ahead for the Hat and the Lamp. That way we can get a clearer picture of what films have been scheduled and what surprises await us.

Hopefully Ron & Jon's other idea will have gelled by then since "Mort" sadly fell through...

In The Shadows Of The Lamp...

Coulda, shoulda, woulda...

Sometimes projects and people fall off into the margins...

Pixar is a company that has had a hit every time that it has stepped up to bat. What fans probably don't realize, is that along the way, projects have been canceled or retooled, and people have either fired/replaced or quit. It's the nature of the business. It's the fingerprint of Hollywood. You can question many decisions that people in this business, Suit and Creative alike, have done, but you can't question the unparalleled success that the Lamp has achieved. Every studio would love to have that track record.

So, it's with surprise that the Mouse (via the Disney-Pixar Facebook page) has released a bunch of production art from the aborted film "Newt," that was to mark Gary Rydstrom's feature directorial debut. I think this art is fabulous and makes you wonder what kind of film it would have been. Is it me, or do you get a "Rikki Tikki Tavi" vibe when drinking in these lovely images? Oh, what might have been! Sometimes jewels are unearthed and sometimes they're buried.

There are lot of interesting things that you don't see, that are in the shadows around the Lamp...

More Mouse Droppings...

That didn't sound right, did it?

Quint from Ain't It Cool News has his part two from Disney's New York Press Conference last Tuesday. In this one he focuses on the details about the upcoming Disney animated slate for the next four years. I'm looking forward to "Rapunzel" the most and after that "Princess", but I'm really optimistic about "King of the Elves".

Check it out...

More Lamp Illumination...

Quint from Ain't It Cool News discusses his attendance at Disney's New York Press Conference yesterday. He focuses on the details about the upcoming Pixar animated slate for the next four years in this one. It would have been nice to have actually made it to this one but I've had my own deadlines to work with so, oh well.

Have a looksie...
