Hans Zimmer's score for "The Dark Knight Rises" is now available for listening thanks to Empire. The entire score, not pieces of it, but the whole score for you to listen to. Which, if you like, you can purchase here.

While watching the Oscars the other night I still couldn't believe that the soundtrack to "Tron Legacy" hadn't at least been nominated...

I personally think it was the best score of the year. No matter what anyone thought about the film, there has been almost universal praise for the soundtrack. And it got shafted. Hollyw00d is filled with strange folk, I guess.

Well, now the Mouse is about to release (April 5th) a second album with the film's music. This time a remix of all the Daft Punk tracks done by various artist. I can't wait to get this. Nothing like driving along the coast at night with the cool wind blowing through your window and this awesome soundtrack to enhance the ride.

Elvis Aaron Presley was born on this day in Tupelo, Mississippi in 1935. He would have been 75 years old, but passed away at the spritely age of 42 earth years. Lilo introduce his songs to the cuddly alien from another planet and he took a likin' to his blue suede shoes.

Ten Weeks, 10 Peeks...

It's hard to believe there are only ten weeks between now and the release of "Tron Legacy" from Walt Disney Pictures...

Over the next ten weeks the Mouse will have what is known as Tron Tuesday in which they will release clips/surprises from the upcoming film. This week the first is a clip from Daft Punk's score with the track: "The Game has Changed." Enjoy it and await each week until you can purchase that ticket. What a difference twenty-eight years makes.

Everything for "Tron Legacy" seems to be building very positively for the Mouse...

It's now been announced that the soundtrack to the sequel to the cult classic will be released almost a month before the film. November 22 will see Tron fans everywhere getting a preview of the film by being able to hear the music from it. Check out the official website for the soundtrack.

The highly anticipated original motion picture score for TRON: Legacy, composed and produced by the iconic and critically acclaimed Grammy® Award–winning French duo Daft Punk, will be released by Walt Disney Records on Monday, November 22, 2010. Presented in Disney Digital 3D™, Walt Disney Pictures’ “TRON: Legacy” hits U.S. theaters on December 17, 2010, in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D.

Having grown up with admiration of Disney’s groundbreaking original 1982 film “TRON,” Daft Punk took on the scoring of the next chapter of the story with extraordinary thought and precision. The duo assembled a symphony of one hundred world class musicians in London and recorded the orchestra at AIR Lyndhurst Studios, Britain’s premier scoring facility.

From Daft Punk’s first single release in 1993, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter were hailed as a new breed of electronic music innovators. Following their seminal debut in 1997 (Homework), the band went on to release two more studio albums (Discovery-2001, Human After All-2005) and two live albums (Alive 1997, Alive 2007), winning them both critical and popular acclaim throughout the world. Daft Punk are known as much for their music and technical innovation as their groundbreaking and elaborate visual universe, which centers around their irrepressible and mysterious Robot personas. In 2006, their directorial art house film debut, “Daft Punk’s Electroma,” premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and in 2007 they toured internationally with a jaw-dropping live show that was an awe-inspiring combination of their musical and visual prowess. Their collaboration with Kanye West on his #1 hit single “Stronger” was hailed as “The Song of the Year” by SPIN Magazine (January 2008 issue), which also saw Daft sharing the cover with Kanye, having been awarded “Tour of the Year” by the magazine. Daft Punk performed with West on the Grammy Awards in 2008, marking the mercurial duo’s first and only television appearance anywhere in the world. “TRON: Legacy” will mark Daft Punk’s first film score.

It seems I'm not the only one who loves those "Beatles Rockband Cinematics," I guess...

Over at The Monkey Puzzle, they've lamented about why they don't make an animated film in the style of the opening and closing cinematics done by Pete Candeland of Passion Pictures.

In case Robert Zemeckis is reading this (don't worry, I know he isn't), if you want to see how to make an entirely cool and amazingly unique Yellow Submarine, watch this. Please. It'll save many of us having to waste two hours of our lives with your nostalgia. I hope that someone or somehow suits and creatives get you to see it, because if I have to sit through some photo-realistic MoCap representation of the Fab Four from the 60's, I may just have to break all my old LPs. Wait, I don't have any LPs. Well, you get the idea.

I just hope Zemeckis does...

Punks Are Doing the Score...

The website Upcoming Film Scores is reporting that Daft Punk is recording the score for "Tron 2" and has gotten confirmation of this apparently...

This will be their first film score. Interesting move. Things are coming into play. People are starting to fit in the missing pieces of the puzzle. The story is being revealed to us, page by page... or maybe that should be webpage by webpage? This film has gone from almost zero to white hot in a little more than half a year.

A friend sent me a note about the release of a box set of music from the Tokyo Disney Resort...

The Oriental Land Company/Tokyo Disney Resort & Walt Disney Records/Avex Japan are releasing a 12 CD Box Set of 25 Years of music from Tokyo Disneyland Park & Tokyo Disney Sea called "Dream". It'll set you back about $300 bucks American, but if you love Disney music and know the quality of the Tokyo Disney Resort, it's a must have.

If you're an avid collector of soundtracks like me, then you're gonna love this...

Of course, if you love Indiana Jones like me, then you'll be in heaven when you get it. Even if the Box Set includes the very generic soundtrack from the very bland "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull".

Musical Notes On Bolt...

It's been confirmed that John Powell has been hired as the composer on Walt Disney Pictures "Bolt". He's a great composer... it'll be interesting to see how his collaboration with Chris Williams and Lasseter will turn out in the final product.

Stitch's Idol Passed Away 30 Years Ago Today...

Stitch's favorite singer passed away 30 years ago today at Graceland in Memphis. Everyone remembers how much the adorable, little blue fella loved Elvis' music in "Lilo & Stitch".
