Mouse Mogul Musings...

Dream...

Deadline Hollywood has an interview with Walt Disney Pictures' Head Suit...

Rich Ross has a very interesting interview that has equal parts of agreement/disagreement about the state of film in general and the Mouse in specific.

An interesting read...

While candid yes, all I got from this interview was typical executive dribble. The thought that Disney spent money to push Alice in Wonderland towards a best picture nomination is just silly. I enjoyed the film for what it was, but it was NO BEST PICTURE. I even gaffed at it getting nominated at the Golden Globes. Is Ross going to try and push his Prom film for best picture next year? It is his baby project after all.

Rich Ross has done little to get me excited for his vision of the future of Disney films. Iger has been right in that a shake up is needed amongst Disney Management, what he's failing to realize is it needs to start with him.

I think Iger has been and is doing a VERY good job. Iger is a hands off manager unlike his predessor and allows his management team to have a pretty free hand as long as they perform.

Although I agree about Alice, it did do gangbusters around the world. And it is the 'Hollywood Foreign Press' that runs the globes. Maybe it's a 'Germans love David Hasselhoth' thing.
