Smashing Success...

Hulk crush puny humans in ratings...

So I'm recovering from jet lag right now...

Not only have I been away, but I was gone during Nerdvana so I didn't get to see some of my favorite people. Strangely, this years Comic-Con was a bit subdued. It didn't have the big surprises you normally expect. Not that there weren't surprises, just not anything earth shattering.

One of the surprising things that did get announced was another animated series for Disney XD based on the Marvel properties. It really is becoming the Marvel Channel, isn't it? For those uninformed, Jeph Loeb revealed that Doctor Bruce Banner was getting his own show on the cable network. His sidekick will be a tall, green man that looses his temper from time to time. No one knows who the band leader will be, but my suggestion is Michael Giachhino. Now that would make a heck of a theme song, don't you think? If you wanna see the logo for it click here.

The great think about this announcement is the revelation of who will be working on it. Non other than the great Paul Dini, who is now working on "Ultimate Spider-Man." So two Marvel series in a row? I always thought of Paul as a DC Man, I think he's defecting. Sad.

"Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H." will debut in 2012...

C'mon really? I'm guessing theres nothing really talk about these days. How about going back to the original Disney channel from when I was a kid now that would be something to blog about.

Get over it Anonymous. This is Honors blog and he can write about whatever he wants. And PS, Marvel is as much Disney as Pixar is now. So get used to it.

^I will never get used to Marvel being a part of Disney. It's just an purchase, nothing more, with money that would have been better spent on, oh I don't know, the PARKS? Speaking of which, it makes me sick to see Spiderman merchandise at the parks now. And now there are rumors that the parks will be sold. God I hate Iger. He's destroying Disney.

Who's doing the animation, Film Roman or Disney TV animation?

Money is being spent on the parks in case you didn't know. There are many divisions and Parks & Resorts isn't the only one that gets or needs money.

"And now there are rumors that the parks will be sold."

There are rumors that their going to build a Fifth Gate in Walt Disney World. These are RUMORS. Treat them as such until you hear otherwise. Why do you always have to expect the worst? Let's not play Chicken Little and scream: THE SKY IS FALLING! It's a rumor, please take that razor blade away from your wrist.

"God I hate Iger. He's destroying Disney."

Oh, good golly! Sigh. Really? He's a vast improvement over the last decade of Eisner and he's not Satan. Geesh! I happen to think he "gets" some of the problems that have happened and has done good things to address it. DCA 2.O. anyone? Making sure Pixar stays part of Disney. Putting Lasseter in charge of all theatrical animation and an influence over WDI.

Sometimes I think you people ask for too much.

Yah they really know how to spend their money. Look at the hack job they did with the the Little Mermaid ride. They should spend some of that Marvel money on figuring out a way to bring back the original Imagineers from the grave to teach all these new visionless idiots a thing or two about creativity.

I hope what ANIMATED RESPONSE is saying about Iger and Disney is true. It just seems he's spending big online games, social network, websites, digital distribution, Marvel and Pixar. And I'm not sure how loyal he is to the parks and Disney movies. Like Proctor and Gamble, Disney is becoming a parent company to multiple brands.

So far, all of his pricey digital investments have not paid dividends. He seems more concerned about playing movies on an I-phones and I-pads, than he is about making good movies. And, I don't agree with selling Miramax and Power Rangers. Although they don't fit the "Disney" brand, the library does make money. Like they say, content is king. You need a diversified portfolio.

Who knows, maybe in a few years, we won't even recognize Disney. Might be better. Might be worse.

Marvel and Disney go together like Pornography and Disney - keep those insipid creatures out of the parks, for Christ´s sake... (About the rumors that they are going to sell the parks: If you had the right to print yout own money, would you sell that right? Think about Iger whatever you will, but he is not an idiot!)

I hope he's not an idiot for that reason (selling the parks).

Maybe it's the rumors on the web that make me feel distrustful of Iger at times. I hope it's all good and everyone lives happily ever after.
