Getting Justice...

The Hollywood Reporter has a great interview with screenwriter Damon Lindelof...

It taps into his thoughts on many of his own as well as several other projects.  From "Lost", to "Star Wars" to  several other entertainment iconography that he's been associated with.  But the reporter asks Lindelof about Warner Bros. difficulty in getting their "Justice League" film off the ground.  And his answer is analytically  precise and revealing about what he would do, if anything:

THR: If Warner Bros called and asked you to help solve their Justice League problem, would you take that call?

Lindelof: The Justice League problem? I think a lot of that depends on Man of Steel. The Justice League problem is not a problem of, who is the bad guy that Wonder Woman and Green Lantern, Superman, whoever you decide to pit them against. The problem is: What’s the tone of that movie? They’ve been struggling with launching their own tone. The tone of Green Lantern is very different from the tone of The Dark Knight. They clearly inhabit two entirely different worlds. You want to feel like someone is establishing a world where the Justice League can exist, maybe Man of Steel is that movie. If Man of Steel works, and it’s great, I think it starts to make sense where Paradise Island is in that world. Because that’s an entirely different world than the one Christopher Nolan introduced.

What's interesting about his statement is that he draws on the fact that "Man of Steel" could provide the justification for the superhero team-up film, while denying, or more precisely, deflecting any desire to be involved in the film.  So, unless he has a change of heart, I don't think we'll see his name on the credit list.  My suggestion, have Zack Snyder produce it and get Jonathan Nolan to write it and give him the opportunity to direct it.  He can be DC's Joss Whedon.  He knows the characters and is able to write them.  Let him play around in a world where they all meet up.

After all the success he's given Warner, that'd be justice...

Daredevil Directs DC...

From Good Will Hunting to Superfriends...

Warner Bros. is planning on offering Ben Affleck the directing gig for their "Justice League" film...

Wow. Now that's something I never saw coming. The Warner Suits must really be happy with the dailies their seeing from "Argo." The director/actor of "Gone Baby Gone," "The Town," and "Argo" appears to be the only one who has gotten the script by Will Beall. Which means, that Warner is so confident in his ability that they're going to wait until he says no before going after another director. I know some have expected that being as he's an actor, he might take one of the roles. I hope not. He will hopefully approach this as a director only.

Which isn't bad, especially if Warner is expressing this much respect for his talent...

Doing Justice To DC...

No wonder twin powers to activate...

Well, we finally know the new game that Rocksteady Studios is working on...

Late last year when "Arkham City" was released, North London's Rocksteady let slip that they were working on another DC property. Many at the time thought it would be Superman, despite the Suits at RS admitting that they weren't really interested in him. With Paul Dini expressing interest in creating a game based on him, there was hope that this was simply misdirection.

But it was not, and it was.

It appears we will get a video game featuring the Last Son of Krypton, but not in his own game. Since it was acquired by Warner Games/Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the hot UK gaming studio has been a shining example of what to do with a video game company that you own (Hear that, Bob?). Its detailed stories, immersive environments, complex characters and amazing graphics have helped create anticipation for whatever this video game studio does next.

And next it goes after the big one. Or all the big ones, I guess you could say. Not only will Superman appear in the game, but many of DC's other characters as well. It's a video game based on the Justice League, but involving the origin of the Joker from the thin details we've gotten. It's not clear if this is a game until itself, or an actual sequel/prequel to "Arkham City" instead.

But with the last two games as examples, Rocksteady will have a loyal following ready to line up to purchase this title. Warner Bros. is smart with the marketing/direction of their interactive media. Something the Mouse's Disney Interactive could learn a bit from.

Now all we have to do is wait to play it...

Wanting Justice...

For those of you that have longed to see a Justice League film...

This trailer may be your only look at what it'd be like. And it would be AWESOME according to this.

Wow.

This November, Sony and Warner will release DC Universe Online. A game in which you create your own character (hero or villain) and get to interact with the characters of DC Comics in their world. Be it the slums of Gotham City to the halls of the Daily Planet in Metropolis. There is an offline challenge mode that allows you to actually play characters like Batman, Green Lantern and others as well. But this video gives you an idea of what fun can be had watching these characters do battle. An entire film like this would be jaw droppingly, mind numbing. We await that opening day.

Until then, the Avengers will have to do...
