Cold Story...

I know many were not thrilled with the teaser for WDAS's  "Frozen" when it came out...

But it was just a scene from the film.  Not a full teaser, or trailer.  It was meant to show you that a new animated film was coming from the Mouse.  And it was supposed to let you know that it was funny.  Well, not everyone liked it.  Don't worry, the next trailer, and yes, it is a trailer, will give you much more.

The first actual trailer for the film will be out before you know it, and it's a much better look at the story.  In fact it actually tells you what the story is.  It fleshes out the narrative and lets you get to get a better look at the world and who lives in it.  For those that wanted a real look at the film, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

This actual trailer won't leave so many in the cold...

Enrolling Soon...

The final trailer for the Lamp's prequel to "Monsters Inc." is out...

Pixar's "Monster University" will be out June 21 and the word from people who've seen it is that it's good.  It's remarkably fresh and entertaining, with a surprising amount of heart.  Now, is it really surprising that a Pixar film has heart?

The great thing about the Emeryville Campus of Disney North, is that John Lasseter and his Brain Trust run it.  They are the heart surgeons that created this little bit of animated Nirvana.  And thankfully, he's well on his way to making the Hat Building a place filled with heart as well.  Animationally speaking, of course.

Monster University should be a lot of fun, not to mention the trailer in front of it...

Frozen In Time...

Just a little less than a month from now and "Monsters University" will be out...

But what many people will be happy about is getting their first real look at Walt Disney Animation Studios' next feature: "Frozen".  The first teaser will be in front of the Lamp's animated prequel.  Now, it's a teaser, not a full trailer.  It's meant to give you the flavor of the film.  It'll be a sweet little scene (not of the main characters) that shows off the humor.  One that gets you ready for what's to come.

A frozen treat, if you will...

You Are Not Alone...

A new trailer for "Man of Steel" is out...

Warner Bros. has delivered an action packed trailer filled with the kind of action we'd expect from a man that can fly, has super human strength and can shoot lasers out of his eyes.  Take a look and buy that ticket right now.  It really does present a much better looking film than what Bryan Singer gave us.  Really excited to see this.  Hopefully, they'll tease the much bigger DC Cinematic Universe in this.

A reference to Brainiac conquering worlds during the final scenes of this would be the icing on the cake...

Last American Hero...

So the Mouse released the final trailer for their new summer film...

The fourth trailer for Walt Disney Pictures "The Lone Ranger" has come out.  More action, more comedy, more "splosions" and a really wild, Wild West.  The folks in Burbank are betting 200+ million on a genre that has been hit or miss over the past few decades.

Gone are the days when Hollywood studios would crank out Westerns on a weekly basis, because it was printing money.  People would go to see them no matter if they were good, or bad, or the cowboy was singing.  It was a distinctly American genre that defined this nation during the latter part of the Nineteenth century.  It was the emergence of this nation on the world as a place of opportunity, adventure and hope.

Maybe that hope is personified in the adventures of this tale of a masked man out for justice.  He doesn't wear a cape, or fly, or throw a car at someone to smash them.  He fires a bullet, rides a white horse, and wears a white hat.  He's the symbol of a dying breed of film and men.  Cowboys are a part of the film industry and the American past.  We'll see if it rides again this summer.

Remember they said pirate movies were dead a while ago too...

Awesome Origin...

Warner Games has finally released the full trailer for the "Batman: Arkham Origins" video game...

The original "Arkham Asylum" and its sequel "Arkham City" are among the best games that we here at Blue Sky have ever enjoyed playing.  The immersive experiences that have been created giving you the actual feeling of playing a superhero is an amazing transportation to a dark and dangerous world.  One comic book fans would love to venture inside; much less, play the Batman in.  When we found out that the next game, a prequel, would be made by another studio other than Rocksteady, fans were naturally worried the result would be disappointing.

If this trailer (clocking in at 4+ minutes) is any indication of the quality of the game, then fans have nothing to worry about.  The animation looks incredible, and it appears they're actually telling a story.  Looks like they're taking a tip from the last two games, which is a good idea.  Those are high bars to reach.  But so far, this first trailer has me interested in forking over the cash for it.  But it's going to be strange seeing one of these with out Kevin Conroy (Batman) or Mark Hamill (The Joker) voicing it.  They've contributed greatly to the mythos of the Caped Crusader between the Arkham games and BTAS.

Here's to new beginnings...

Going Big...

The latest trailer for Guillermo del Toro's latest just came out...

Boy, does this look like a young boy's dream or what?  "Pacific Rim" is shaping up to be what kids have fantasized about playing with action figures for decades.  And from the buzz it sounds like Legendary Entertainment's Suits, particularly, head geek Thomas Tull, have made a friend for life.

Perhaps Guillermo is hoping that if he makes Warner/Legendary a mountain of cash, they'll give him a mountain?  As in buy the rights to his mountain over at Universal.  His opus, his dream is to make "At The Mountains Of Madness" since forever.  And it would have been done over at Universal with James Cameron producing and Tom Cruise starring, but the Uni Suits didn't want a R rated $100 million dollar picture.

If this film is a success then perhaps Universal will let him make that picture.  Or maybe Legendary will buy the rights to the project and let him have it as a gift for what he's done for them?  And while we're at it, maybe Alan Horn and the Disney Suits will finally bite the bullet and green light his "Haunted Mansion" reboot?  Now that would be a project I and many other fans have wanted to see.

It could all be riding on a bunch of giant robots and monsters...

A Broadening S.H.I.E.L.D...

We now have an extended trailer for Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." series...

It certainly does flesh out the series to give us a better representation of what Joss Whedon has in store for us.  We get to see the mysterious figure that saves someone from a burning building, expanded take on the agents who we'll see every week, and a little more depth on why Agent Coulson returns (hint: Level 7).

So will this series make it beyond "Firefly" or "Dollhouse" into a second or third season?  Who knows, but in the world we live, having the exposure of being connected to "The Avengers" should give it a better chance of attracting and keeping an audience.  Maybe it'll make it to seven season's like Whedon's pinnacle: "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer" did.

Time will tell...

A Rising Tide Lifts All Ratings...

It's not very often a trailer for a television show generates this much hype...

But this is no ordinary television show/series.  It's got connective tissue to the biggest blockbuster film of last year.  That alone means that the S.H.I.E.L.D. trailer would get a lot of buzz.  The fact that it also comes from the director/writer of that show, and he directed and co-wrote the pilot is another major reason eyeballs will not only be on this tease for the series, but the show as well.

Joss Whedon has moved from talented writer, to cult creator, to frustrated genius, to blockbuster film maker over the past decade+.  It's about time that people outside Whedonesque got note of the amazing work this storyteller can do.  Avengers let him burst forth onto the silver screen with a vengeance  and now he'll have an opportunity to blend the D.N.A. of that film into the television world.

The viral campaign for the show has also kicked into high gear with the launch of the We Are The Rising website.  Not much is there yet, but as we move closer to the launch of the series you can expect more content to be added.  The network has a lot riding on this show.  And so does Marvel.  It's their first big jump into live action series.

But it won't be their last...

Raiding, Honestly...

Da, da, da, da, da, da, da...

I like truth in advertising...

And truth is the most pure form of honesty.  The folks over at Screen Junkies have come up with a painfully honest trailer for the fourth outing of Henry Jones, Jr. that will have you rolling on the floor.  Well, at least it did for me.  It lets you know that it's time to pass the baton, and it shows why Lucasfilm should be in more reasoned hands now.

Now, let him ride off into the sunset like he did in the third film...

Gods Among Us...

My only son...

So we finally have our first real look at the Last Son of Krypton...

And it's a very lovely look.  A dreamy, hyper-realistic look and feel of an American icon that many have thought was too old fashioned, too  corner and too dated.

If the film lives up to this trailer then those critics will be eating a lot of crow.  I hope they end up eating copious amounts of the bird.  My only real complaint is when Jonathan Kent talks about the act that Clark did.  He wouldn't say that.  He would be instilling values on his adopted son to do the right thing regardless of the consequences.  He would be the focal point of the young Superman's values.  He wouldn't say that statement, unless there are words on the other side of it that better elaborate what he was talking about.  But other than that, this looks like a film I can't wait to see.

The only thing that could spoil it would be if they tacked on a clip of Batman after the credits portrayed by a Bruce Wayne-less Joseph Gordon Levitt...

Don Mask...

Who was that masked man...

The new (second) trailer for Walt Disney Pictures' "The Lone Ranger" is out...

It's a visually impressive piece of work.  You can clearly see that this is a wild west version of the tale of "Don Quixote" that Verbinski is trying to tell (Which is strange since the Mouse is now working on a version of that tale for Depp.).  Will it work for audiences?  That will be the question that will be answered next summer.  The director knows how to do a western, as he told with the animated film, "Rango".

Come, next summer we'll see if the West rides again...

More Wreckage...

New box office wreakord...

The new trailer for "Wreck-It Ralph" is out...

It's got more of the story, and explains how the film unfolds in a much better way than the first trailer. Overall, it's an improvement over a good trailer for a very entertaining film.

It's going to be interesting to note that this will be the first year in a long time since a WDAS film did better than a Pixar film. Still, it's fine. They're brothers fighting over who is better.

But they're both family, they're both Disney...

Men Of Steel...

I give to you, my only son...

The trailer(s) for the new "Man of Steel" film is out...

It's actually two trailers. Each one is pretty much the same thing, but near the end there are a couple scenes different, not much and the voice-overs are different.

They're playing randomly with "The Dark Knight Rises," so there is no pattern as which you will see. Again, they're basically the same other than who you hear for the most part.

One has Jor-El (Russell Crowe) narration.

One has Jonathan Kent (Kevin Coster) narration.

Both are equally good, but focus on different points of view. Jor-El offers a look at human's acceptance of a person of Kal-El's powers, while Kent offers a look at who he is as a human and what he should/will become with those powers.

Not much is shown, but that's expected till we get an actual trailer in the fall...

Burton, Black & White...

Here boy, come here boy in October...

So now we've seen more of what director Tim Burton has in store for us come October...

And it's very appealing to me. If you've seen any old monster films from the 50's, like "Attack of the 50 ft. Woman," or a "Godzilla" film, then this trailer will make you giggle with delight. An innocence presided over these tales of terror that no longer applies. It was an attempt to entertain you and tell a story, not see how far they could gross you out. Despite paper thin plots in many cases, these film were decidedly more cerebral than most horror you see today.

Burton seemed totally at home here. As if he was among friends, or worshippers as some of the attendees made obvious. This stop-motion animated film looks like a labor of love for the director. It truly shows. I've only seen part of his original live-action short, but it appears that he's greatly expanded the story, and the characters are iconic and Burtonesque. This is the second in a two-picture deal with the Mouse, and I'm sure that if this is as successful as "Alice" they're going to want to continue the relationship.

If it's a hit, perhaps there will be "Bride of Frankenweenie" in a few years...

Behold Oz...

The Walt Disney Pictures panel was quite revealing...

It had many interesting details, many films to show off, and I have always felt that the Mouse puts on a good show, but I was looking forward to seeing the world that Sam Raimi created from L. Frank Baum's books. Well, wait no longer if you want to see the trailer they showed for "Oz: The Great and Powerful."

It's here.

I can already see Bob Iger talking to Imagineers about creating something tangible from this. I can also see MGM/Warner being very, very litigious if Disney isn't too careful.

More to follow...

8-Bit Story Trailer...

Tokens...

Walt Disney Animation Studios made no delay in releasing this...

The first trailer for "Wreck-It Ralph" is out. Take a look at it and see for yourself. And no, it's not the last one, and it's not all the cameos you'll see. But what you don't see is all the heart in the film. This in only a quarters worth.

Please deposit another token...

First Tour Of Mars...

Walt Disney Pictures has released the teaser trailer for "John Carter" a day early...

And we have to remember that it's a teaser. It's meant to tease. And I think that it partially achieves its purpose. But it does give me hope that Andrew Stanton has gotten it right. I like various elements, but feel that the marketing campaign has got their hands full.

Like many people I've heard from, this is based on a classic that is a hundred years old (next year). But there are many things in this that are going to seem as though they are stolen from "Star Wars" or "Avatar." The opposite is true. But I think marketing are going to have to address this. From what I know, everyone associated with the screenplay viewed this as a labor of love. I'm going to cross my fingers and put my confidence in them to faithful put my and other geek/fanboy's dreams on the screen to Barsoom.

Come March, I can't wait to make the journey...

Brave Trailer...

We know it's brave, let's hope it's good...

Those of you that saw "Cars 2" this weekend got to see this in all its glory...

The teaser trailer for Pixar's "Brave" has now been released on the web. It looks lovely, and has a scale of an epic adventure. I can't wait to actually see it. Until then, you'll just have to live with this teaser.

Now, if the marketing department would promote "John Carter of Mars" as well as this film...
