Gelè...

The seasons are changing and before you know it, winter will be here...

And with that, Walt Disney Animation Studios' "Frozen" will be released.  Not just in America, but the world as well.  Disney's marketing department is well underway promoting this about the world.  There are beautiful posters in every country across the world, beautiful campaigns, amazing banners and entertaining trailers to melt the heart of every Disney Animation fans.

While I can't wait to see the Scandinavian posters, the ones we've seen so far are quite beautiful.  These French posters are quite lovely to look at, and when you placed them together you get a surprisingly magical image.  It's nice to have Disney Magic back, isn't it?

And just wait until you see some of the posters for Big...

Pulp Stars...

If you love sci-fi and pulp then Timothy Anderson should be on your dial...

We've posted some of his amazing work before when he did this to "Blade Runner" and other classic science fiction.  Now, he's taken the Star Wars trilogy and made prints of it that look like old pulp covers as well.  Take a look at his site where he has prints for sale.  I can't wait to see what he does next.

Maybe something on a long, lost Ark...

Posters And Banners Of Steel...

More and more "Man of Steel" posters keep appearing...

And last, but not least, the fan community is pretty talented as well.  Take a look at this breathtaking poster not created by Warner Bros., but a fan.  A very talented one with a good eye for design.

Not much longer and we can judge if the film is as good as the posters...

Campus Tour...

Boo...

Two new posters for the Lamp's next film are out...

Pixar released two teaser posters for "Monster University" today. One is the image above, and the other is a French poster (read: International) that offers the tone of the film - Revenge of the Monster Nerds? This looks to be an entertaining staple for Emeryville, but I'm most excited about the next few original films they have in development for 2014, 2015 and 2016.

But until then, we'll have a fun tour of the campus...

The Road To Oz...

Follow, follow, follow...

A second poster has been released for "Oz: The Great and Powerful" today...

It's in the vein of the first one, albeit with more characters and more detail.  Same hot air balloon.  Is it just me, or does that castle look familiar?

I wonder how this film has changed from the script I read.  It'll be interesting seeing what Sam Raimi does now that his "Spider-Man" days are behind him.  His Oz will be interesting.

And it gets closer as we travel down the Yellow Brick Road...

Mondosters...

Fish falls for girl, girl no so much...

I love Mondo...

They make some amazing posters. When I was a kid, I remember being obsessed with "Creature from the Black Lagoon" so much that I bought a glow in the dark model from the back of a comic book. When it got to me, I was somewhat disappointed in the fact that I had to put it together. I thought it would already be in one piece, impatient lad, that I was.

If you like this poster presented exclusively by Collider, then check out the collection that the art studio has put together. Really impressive stuff for a film geek/Universal Monster geek, or just someone that loves collecting film posters.

Maleficent, I believe you have an appointment...

What's Left Behind...

Hopefully it has a charger...

Even Marvel Shorts are getting posters it seems...

The new short, "Item 47" that is included in "The Avengers" Blu-Ray/DVD happens to have a poster. And it looks pretty swank. Also, Marvel released a micro-clip to help set up the story. Basically, it's a modern day Bonnie & Clyde that come across alien technology set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

I guess the G-Men that get them in this version come from the S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier...

Marketing Mondo...

Of paint and brush and legend...

Movie posters are/have been an art unto themselves...

It seems in the last decade+ that that art has died, or at least fallen on bad times. Most movie posters today are just a giant head shots of the stars and the logo of the film. They sell who is in the film, rather than the film. Rather than the story. And like the Lamp, I believe that story is king. It's why I go to see a film. I don't want to see a bunch of soulless FX work with no reason to be up there. I want to be told a story. A film sells a story. A poster sells a film. It shouldn't sell a star.

One entity that has been trying to keep the art of the poster alive for the latter part of this decade is Mondo. They're the collection of artists that do limited edition posters for the Alamo Drafthouse, and have been doing an amazing job of it if you ask me. Lately they've been selling some screen prints of famous posters by legendary poster artist Drew Struzan. His Frankenstein poster is absolutely incredible. I'd say he's my second favorite poster artist after the great Bob Peak. But since he retired in 2008 there have been no new posters from Drew, and the poster world has sunk even lower since.

Over at /Film they did an interview with Mondo's Justin Ishmael, and he seems to have gotten Drew to abandon his self-imposed retirement and entertain the world with his craft again. It appears that they have some secret projects that they are working on with him, and I for one can't wait to see what it is he's working with Mondo on. And we may not have to wait long to find out more with Comic Con only days away. The film world is a better place with him in it.

Now, if Alan Horn can get him to do the new Lone Ranger film next year...

One Sheet/Many Characters...

Please deposit one peso, mark, whatever...

As the marketing campaign gets more focused we'll see more of the Mouse's next animated feature...

One such way for characters from a new film to be known is for the studio to release posters for individual subjects in a film. And Walt Disney Studios has just released some international one sheets for "Wreck-It Ralph" that give you a better look at what these 8-Bit creations look like behind the cabinet. Head over to Cine1 to see the collection.

Looking forward to pumping in a few coins for this one...

Hidden Treasures...

If fan art posters had a name...

Check out these amazingly cool posters...

I love Indiana Jones. And these poster from Geek Tyrant are so creative I want them on my wall framed please.

Now, how about that animated series so that they can do one for it as well...

Hat Tip to /Film.

Posting Periods...

Posted...

If you happen to get to see the new display at the Blue Sky Cellar, you will find these...

Three new lovely posters for more attractions. This brings to nine the number of posters done in this retro-Disneyland style. Now wouldn't it be nice if they sold all of these together in a set? Of course, there's still more that need to be done, like Midway Mania, Radiator Springs Racers, ect.

But it's lovely to view the walk back...

A-Game...

Saving the world, one film at a time...

A teaser poster was released for Marvel Studios' "The Avengers" film...

With the last piece of the set up for this film opening tomorrow, the Mouse and Marvel are going to start heating up the marketing of this big, superhero film. The official website of the film and this minimalist poster were released today.

Expect more reveals at Comic-Con, but nothing like last year. As the weeks and months pass the marketing burn should increase until no one is in the dark about this film coming out next summer.

Slowly assembling...

Poster Propaganda...

American Poster, ##(@$ yeah...

Purty...

Another poster has been released for Marvel Studios upcoming "Captain America" film over at Hitfix. Very love with some classic Drew Struzan qualities to it. My only complaint is a consistent one with all the posters so far. Why they aren't showing him with the mask? Anyway, the buzz on this one is way good and I'm going to have fun sitting down and watching this with friends in a week.

I just hope they have Hydra in the sequel...

Rises Teases...

Holy end of an era, Batman...

The teaser poster for Christopher Nolan's final Bruce Wayne film is out...

Nice use of negative space. Hopefully the film will live up to the incredible amount of hype that will be heaped on it after the box office and critical hit of "The Dark Knight." Will it be as good as that film? Doubtful, but Nolan has never let me down. I've never seen a film of his that made me feel I didn't get my money's worth. If he turns a character like "Bane," which is totally uninteresting to me, I'll be very happy. He has a great actor playing him. Selina Kyle will hopefully turn out to be a great addition as well, but I'll wait and see. Hard to believe this time next year it'll be out.

And then it'll be time for someone else to reboot the Caped Crusader...

Out Of The Past, Into The Future...

Red, white and blue turning into green...

So Marvel Studios has released the new poster and trailer for the First Avenger...

Actually, that's the only think I can say negative about this. The reliance on using that tag line is all I don't like about this. The poster is great, although I would like to see one with him wearing his mask. But the poster with its washed out color is a throw back to those propaganda posters you would have seen during World War 2.

And that trailer? Don't get me started. This only validates my reasons for this being my number one movie to see this summer. It looks great, authentic and is getting great reviews from those that have screened it.

Counting down the days...

Brave Poster...

Brave look...

Pixar Animation Studios new film "Brave" finally has a poster...

I can't wait to see the new trailer next week, because I've heard great things about it. It will be interesting to see the Lamp's take on the princess story.

I'm sure it'll be unique like almost everything else that comes from Emeryville...

Rebranding Bad...

Gawsh...

The period look of DCA's new posters continues...

And it's a lovely thing. I enjoy how even the little things are helping to improve not only the image of Disney's Second California Gate, but the outlook for the whole park.

Now, let's see those swanky Radiator Springs Racer posters...

The Blackest Beard...

Well, shiver me timbers...

No sooner had I mentioned I couldn't wait to see Ian McShane's one-sheet than it appears...

Well, it came out yesterday, but I've been away from Blue Sky Headquarters, so I wasn't able to post it till now. Of course, it doesn't show any action, it's a character sheet for "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides." And although he doesn't look like what I expected, I know that McShane will deliver an amazing performance. I know that his character is based on the real pirate, but it's a story involving more myth than the man. Still, it would be nice to see them incorporate some of the real man's history into this pirate fairy tale. Perhaps if the tone and scope of this film is closer to the original, we can expect the second trilogy to materialize in a less chaotic way.

But this is Hollywood and wishing that might be a little unrealistic...

UPDATE: If you'd like to see the collection of all the character one-sheets, then head over to Coming Soon's post here.

Oh Captain, My Captain...

We named the monkey part four...

Walt Disney Pictures has released another character one-sheet for the next Pirates adventure...

Geoffrey Rush/Hector Barbossa appears in this poster for "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides," with that crazy eye glaze that tells you to stay away because he's just a bit wacky. I don't mind Elizabeth and Will missing from these stories, but I'm glad Sparrow's foil and nemesis has not been left out of these new adventures. I can't wait to see one with Ian McShane as Edward Teach.

Setting sail in less than two months...

The Fourth Post...

Yo, ho, yo, ho...

The first poster for "Pirates of the Caribbean : On Stranger Tides" has been released...

Wonder what they're trying to sell here? Obviously, Jack Sparrow is playing an important role in this, but it'll be nice when we get to see Ian McShane and other in a more flashing sheet.

I can't wait to see how they continue the storyline from the original trilogy into this trilogy.

Yes, I know, you heard me say that. It's not earth shattering, and it doesn't require brain surgery to come to this conclusion. One doesn't have to have their head in Fantasyland to realize what success will mean for this franchise in film and attractions. A hit is a hit.

But if this one is a hit you can believe that there will be more to follow..
