Disney Buys Bob Two More Funnybones...

Screenwriters Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel("A League of Their Own","City Slickers") have been signed by the Mouse to do a rewrite on Touchstone Pictures comedy "Bob: The Musical." Mark Waters("The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past") will direct.

"Bob" is about a thirtysomething man that hates musicals and wakes up one day to find his life has turned into one. I actually could understand this... believe it or not, with the exception of a few classic films, the only musicals I enjoy are Disney animated musicals... otherwise, it drives me nuts when people break out into songs in the middle of a scene.

Look for this to be one of Touchstone's major releases next year...

Fantastic news! I was afraid Bob: The Musical was dead. I'm looking very forward to this movie. Not only does the plot sound fun, but it will be great to hear another musical from Marc Shaiman (Hairspray).

If you haven't yet seen it, you should check out the Buffy musical, "Once More, With Feeling." As it's happening, the characters are questioning why they're bursting into song.

"It's getting eerie / what's this cheery singing all about?"
