Deeper Into The Sanctuary...

No sooner than I put all that work into a pictorial of Pixar's Emeryville Campus than those guys over at Rotten Tomatoes go and publish the photos from their exclusive visit earlier this year.

Talk a looksie...

Hat Tip to Disney and More.

I see they were given the exact same nickel tour that I was given a year ago. The grounds and the atrium are beautiful, but are completely non-functional from a production stand point. The atrium takes up about 1/3 of the entire buildings foot print. So where are the animators and other artists? They're crammed into tiny cubicles just around the corner. Pixar is completely out of space and are desperately trying to find places to put people. Just about all of Technology and other overhead departments have been moved to adjacent buildings which are much more ordinary looking. The tour that Pixar gives is specifically designed to make you drool. Just don't look behind the curtain.

They're going to be expanding over the next decade and a half, justin. There are plans for two new buildings and a parking structure over that time. They should be in the middle of one of those phases as we speak actually...
