Star Wars: Return Of The Subtitle's Revenge...

There are so many things Star Wars fans are wondering about Episode VII...

Right now I think the most obvious question on fans mind's is what will it be called?  We had a rumor a few weeks ago that it might be "A New Dawn".  Now comes a rumor from Latino Review that George Lucas had two working titles before he sold it to the Mouse.

Return of the Sith

Rise of the Jedi

Kind of on the nose don't you think?  I mean, it would seem in line with what direction we expect the story to head, but could these really be the actual ones?  I doubt it.  It's not that some of the actual titles don't sound cheesy.  Phantom Menace?  Attack of the Clones?

To be fair, Star Wars is inspired by the old Flash Gordon serials and serials in general.  And many of these weekly chapters has corny titles.  So they might turn out to be correct.  But I wondered what other titles could be used?  What would I use? What would you title it?  Here are just a few cheesy titles I came up with.

A New Empire Rises

Dawn of the Republic

The Dark Encircling

A Galaxy in Peril

Battle for the Republic

The Chaos Factor

War of the Sith

Feel free to leave your own subtitle, it can't be any stranger than what is out there...

The Rebellion's Dawn...

So we now have our first look at this nasty Rebel Alliance...

By now I'm sure you've seen Lucasfilm's teaser(really a micro-teaser) for "Star Wars Rebels" that'll premiere on the Mouse's Disney Channel next fall.  Hopefully most fans won't be disappointed in its shortness. You have to remember that this thing is just being animated right now and not much is in a fished enough state to show.

We probably won't get a decent trailer showing the narrative until the beginning of the new year since there is so much to animate.  It doesn't mean that we won't get news. In fact, I think will be seeing artwork and character designs before you know it.  I've heard impressive things about the designs of the show.  Really looking forward to watching it unfold piece by piece, rebel by rebel, ship by ship.

The Force is strong with this one…

Beware, Batfans...

Cartoon Network is bringing out yet another animated version of the Caped Crusader...

"Beware the Batman" is a computer generated attempt to both pay homage to, and yet, walk away from the epicness of Batman: The Animated Series.  They've released a new trailer that shows off the action with appearances by minor/obscure villains in an effort to show the series is different.  While the animation looks fine, the modeling and texture of scenes leaves something to be desired.

Here's to crossing our fingers that the writing is good...

No Assembly Required...

Everybody loves free stuff...

I was a big fan of the Marvel animated series: "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" before they cancelled it.  I still feel that it was ill conceived to end it just to connect the animated series closer to the "Avengers" film.  That show was on its way to becoming the Marvel version of what DC's "Batman: The Animated Series" has become.  But then they ended it to create another animated series.

Well, if you'd like to see what the new "Avengers Assemble" is going to look like before the May 26 broadcast on Disney XD, here's your chance.  The Mouse has released the first half of the pilot (22 minutes) on iTunes for free.  Take a look and see if it measures up to what came before it.

You'll have to wait a week to see the conclusion though...

Beck's End...

Get with the picture programs...

Well, this is it...

The season finale of "Tron: Uprising" is tonight at Midnight/11:00 Central if you want to see what may be the last episode.  Let the Mouse know what you think about this series.  Unless the ratings improve for this show it will likely not return for a second season on Disney XD.

And that would be sad, because it's way above most other animation out there.  So tune in if you like the program, programs.  The final episode of Tron: Uprising Season 1, Ep. 19 is called "Terminal," appropriately.

Let's just hope it's not prophetic...

Uprising's Downfall…

Get on the Grid, watch now...

It looks like Beck's life on the grid may turn out to be a short one…

It appears that the ratings for the Disney XD show "Tron: Uprising" aren't nearly as strong as the Suits would like, and this series is on the verge of being canceled at the end of the season.  Not enough people are turning in to the shows toward a second season. That's kind of sad, because it's really quite good. The stories are interesting, characters are the kind you care for, and the animation is top notch, particularly for television show.

No decision has been made yet, but the artist working on the show appear to see the writing on the wall as well as some of the producers/directors of the show.  So unless a lot more people start paying attention the series, this tale will never be fulfilled, and we'll just have to wait and see if a legacy continues.

If you haven't seen the series, may I suggest you take a look at it. It's really quite fun, and something the creators of the show are quite proud of. I feel one the main problems is a long hiatus, erratic time slot and a lack of a cohesive advertising strategy across various platforms.  Disney's marketing started off marketing the show cleverly, but has since dropped the ball badly.

As for as for how this affects the green lighting of the sequel to the sequel, we don't yet know...

A Detour In The Force...

I sense a disturbing disturbance in the Force...

I really don't know exactly what to think about this...

It looks like "Robot Chicken" does Star Wars or "Space Balls" if it was done in the Star Wars Universe, which shouldn't be surprising since this being made by the same people that did/do that series. It's clearly aimed at a younger audience than "The Clone Wars," but it does seem to have humor that will fly over kids heads. The question is, will the show fly over people's heads?

For more on the new show, check out its Star Wars: Detours Facebook Page and see some more clips and art. No word has been given yet as to where the animated series will land. Cartoon Network has been good for Lucas, so it might have the edge. I know that Iger and his crew wanted the Clone Wars series, but lost out to it. Will they try to get this for Disney XD? I'm not sure, but it's doubtful. It'll be interesting to see a full show of this and see how the story and jokes flow. Now, if Kathleen Kennedy can get the budgets to reasonable levels so we can get that live-action series.

Time will tell...

Dreaming...

How many hours a day and a week...

Jeffrey Katzenberg is a very busy man...

The Mouse's major competition, DreamWorks Animation apparently wants to create its own cable channel. It looks like after buying Classic Media, Jeffrey is looking for a place that he can exploit all those properties, as well as expand the properties his company already has.

I wonder if the rebroadcast rights to his series revert back to the company in a few years? That way he can have the "Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness" series, "The Penguins of Madagascar" and anything else rerun on his new channel. Not to mention the ability to create new content for the channel. But it's all in the early stages right now, so we don't know exactly what form it will take just yet. Or when.

It looks like he's planning on expanding the DWA brand beyond that new theme park...

MCU2TV...

Excelsiorvision...

Nikki Finke
's website has a nice little rumor...

I don't link to Deadline anymore (if you want it, you can google it), but they had a small blurb about what Marvel Television's plans are in the future. While a series like the Guillermo del Toro produced "Hulk" series is not set in the MCU, the Superhero Studio and the ABC Network are working on a series that will be set in the movie universe: read that it'll be canon.

No word yet on what it'll be about other than it won't be about the characters in the film, but will be in the universe of the film. So it could be about everyday people dealing with a world with super powered heroes, or a special unit of S.H.I.E.L.D. perhaps? There has been talk of a rumored animated series, but it was nowhere near being green lit. Then again, this sounds barely out of that realm as well.

All we know it that they're looking for a writer for the show. May I suggest J. Michael Straczynski? He's a great writer that's worked in comics/tv/movies and knows how to travel between those worlds. He's written entire seasons of shows, so why not let him help them build this bridge from the MCU films to the MCU tv?

Heck, maybe even get Joss Whedon since he's talked so much about his love of tv lately...

The Grid At Comic-Con...

Greetings from the Grid, San Diego...

Tron had a presence at this years Comic-Con...

It wasn't a major announcement of TR3N or anything (a few small hints, nothing more), but it was there in the form of the animated series "Tron: Uprising."

Now, I could go over the panel for you, but wouldn't you rather just see it for yourself? Thanks to Inside the Magic, here in its entirety is the panel from Room 6A:

Tron: Uprising Panel

The panel is seen with the exception of the "Scars" teaser episode (which you can now see via the link to Disney XD's YouTube channel) and a few other bits (like the show's sizzle reel here.). It's a fun panel with a lot of love for the original source. If you love the Grid, Legacy or the promising new series, take a look.

Now, hopefully next year they'll have a little surprise for us about that sequel...

Fifth Season, It Begins...

Five seasons away...

The trailer for Cartoon Network's "Clone Wars" has been released...

Has it really been five seasons already? Wow, time flies. I can't remember if George Lucas said how many seasons the Clone Wars would comprised, but I keep thinking I read somewhere that it would be five seasons or at least a hundred episodes. But this could also be in articles where he was talking about the rumored live-action series which he mentioned desiring to have that number as well. While, there are structural problems I have with the show, and characters I don't really care for, the storytelling in this series is far superior to the Prequels (at least the first two, and part of the third). With the new Star Wars series from Seth Green on the horizon and the continual talk of the live-action Star Wars series it appears that this universe still has a lot of life left in it. Hopefully, not just on the small screen, but the big screen as well.

And that gives me a new hope that someday we'll find out what happened after the Empire fell...

Avengers Defeated By Avengers...

Assemble again...

I don't know if this is a stupid decision, a good decision or a badly conceived one...

I first heard this yesterday, but didn't get confirmation other than a couple website reporting rumors of it happening. For those that don't know, Disney XD's great animated show "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes" has been cancelled. And it's not for ratings apparently. It's due to the success of the film apparently. I don't know why they can't both exist. They've already said in interviews that the films and television shows are separate universes, so why bow to the pressure of mimicking the success of the film? I've thought since the show premiered that it was to Marvel what "Batman: The Animated Series" was to DC. I don't see a need for a reboot. And from what the producers and writers of the show have been talking about, the series was plotted out for at least another season.

I hope that they don't fumble what is a really good thing. The only critique that I had about the series was it's animated style. I preferred the more detailed example of "Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes" which sadly, was also cancelled. If the stories are of the same caliber and the animation is better then all will be forgiven. But the phrase: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" comes to mind.

When this series premieres I hope they that phrase doesn't come back to haunt them...

Between Grids...

Casting programs...

As we get closer the Grid opens up its secrets...

The Mouse has released a behind-the-scenes featurette of the upcoming "Tron: Uprising" animated series. It's short, but feature thoughts from actors, designers and fans who were at the premiere of the series. It looks like this is going to be a great addition to the Tron mythos.

Uprising's Beginnings...

Beck has a bloated ego if he thinks he's TRON...

For those of you that can't wait for "Tron Uprising" the Mouse has given you a gift...

"Beck's Beginning" has been released to bridge the gap between now and June. It's a full half hour episode and sets the table for what is to come. Take a look inside the world of what happened between Tron and Legacy.

Now if they can get David DiGilio's script for the third film in shooting shape...

Trontastic...

Building a better Grid, bit by bit...

Disney has released a new, longer trailer for "Tron: Uprising" which premieres in June...

It really gives you a much better look at the world of the animated series. And it appears quite impressive. The animation is very good (some parts, gorgeous even) and the style is unique with subtle influences of Japanime. Take a look and see what you think.

The Grid is going to be very active this summer...

More Uprisings...

The Grid is good, the programs...

No sooner has a teaser commercial came out, the Mouse has now released something better...

Actually, a couple of things have been released. First is an actual trailer. It shows a lot more of the world we'll come to know when it debuts this summer. Second, that poster up above was released as well. Don't see many posters being released for television shows, do you? Well, it's nice to see the Grid getting so much attention. Hopefully that will bode well for T3RN.

Till June...

Fifteen Seconds On The Grid...

Weekly on the Grid...

A new teaser has been released for the Tron animated series...

Disney XD has a very short, fifteen second glance at what is coming in the new "Tron: Uprising" animated series. The series premieres in June and is part of the Mouse's effort to expand the Tron Universe.

Suits will be watching to see how the ratings match up with their plans for "TR3N" to be green lit. Let's hope that it's good (word is, it is), and that the ratings are as well.

Summer on the Grid will be very, very interesting...
