A Long Time Ago In A Small Town Far, Far Away...

Sixty-five years ago today in the small town of Modesto, California...

George Walton Lucas Jr. was born. A near-death car crash right before his high school graduation forced him to consider another career path(he wanted to be a race car driver) and made him focus on something different at the local community college. He developed an interest in making films... Modern cinema would never be the same. He gave my childhood a constant wonder and my adulthood a continual pain. But I'm so very happy he decided to do that little take off on Saturday matinee serials. I owe him greatly for that.

Happy Birthday to the Father of the Force...

These anonymous posters sure are crude. Probably 12 years old, surfing on mom's computer.

Anyway, nice way to mark GL's birthday. What a life he's had so far.

Much like Michael Eisner, George Lucas has done far more good than bad. Happy birthday.

I have respect for George Lucas for coming up with two of the best adventure franchises ever created; Star Wars and Indiana Jones. His idea for Indiana Jones is the pinnacle of adventure films and have really influenced me, since 'Raiders" was the one movie I watched the most as a kid. We just love it, every aspect of the films. Thanks George. People are way too hard on him, anyway.

Obviously this Anonymous poster has never read this blog...

I tend to get people that think I hate Lucas so I guess it's nice to think someone believes I blather over the man.

Whatever...

Oh, almost forgot, he came up with American Graffitti, which is one of my mom's most favorite films, that was a classic in it's own right. That was really good, too.

I would give George Lucas a handjob, if only because his beard is so sexy.

I love George, everything up to the prequels have sucked, but before that alot of it was great, from the creation of skywalker sound to THX, to ILM, Lucas Arts, the Lucas educational foundation. The films he's produced, written for, and the first three films he directed. I had a great first 20 or so years of my life loving Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Willow. I thank him for that. Now we have the great effects work in this summers blockbusters, like Transformers 2, Terminator Salvation, and Star Trek. Excuse me while I play Lego Star Wars the Saga Edition.

I can't wait to see the storyline and gameplay they came up with for Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, looks like one of the best Indy games ever since Fate of Atlantis and Infernal Machine.
