I have no doubt that Jerry Bruckheimer's lastest production will make bucket loads of money...
Kids will eat this up. I'm trying to think of this as something akin to "The Absent Minded Professor" or "Blackbeard's Ghost" or something. But it isn't for me. The Mouse has had a dismal year in theaters, so perhaps this will be a glimmer of light in the unforgiving box office jungle.
Me? I've got "Up" and a certain "Princess" on my mind...

The concept doesn't really appeal to me, but again it is all about execution. This could be a really fun movie, or it could be just plain stupid.
Of all the films we released this year, didn't Beverly Hills Chihuahua do really well? This would go right under Chihuahua on my list of things not to bother seeing.
Ugh. This movie has gone through marketing hell. A lot of the earlier posters and logo designs were way more impressive than this, but somehow it's come to this. Even that slogan is pure stupidity, whoever came up with it. It's as if the poster is saying that the world needs bigger heroes than these guys -- Rather than insinuating that these are the big heroes the world needs. Sigh.
Yep, my first thought was this as the modern day equivalent of Blackbeard's Ghost or the Ugly Dachshund. Meaning, like Beverly Hill Chihuahua, it'll make loads of money, but won't be remembered much ten years from now.
I too am tempted to think of these films as the modern equivalent as the simple family comedies that Disney did in the 60's. The problem is that due to the way society has changed, even the most innocent of family comedies nowadays are usually a great deal more offensive than anything (family or otherwise) produced in the 60's. If nothing else we can look forward to a film full of bathroom humor. I'll admit the slapstick and car crashes of the 60's may not have been sophisticated entertainment, but I'd take them over hordes of CGI dancing chihuahuas anyday.
