Snow White And The Seven Oscars...


On this day...

Seventy years ago, Walt Disney received a special Academy Award in innovation for the creation of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". Many more awards obviously followed...

Goofy huh? That's the award they gave him... It was a special oscar with 7 'mini' oscars.

It's kind of sad that so many years later the Academy has pigeonholed animated features into its own category. Some say the chance of an animated film being nominated for Best Picture has gone down dramatically.

The rat film may have had a chance, it's hard to say. I do think there are some in Hollywood that would be embarrassed if an animated feature took the Best Picture award.

If Beauty and the Best were released today, would it get a Best Picture or a Best Animated Feature nod? Hard to say.
