Rumanimations...

Walt Disney Pictures fiftieth animated feature is very close to getting approved and moving forward into story...

Animated fans will be glad to know that it's hand drawn. So unless the schedule gets changed and it's bumped or delayed we'll likely see Walt Disney Animation Studios big release after "Rapuzel" be a return to 2-D.

This won't a return to drawn animation exslusively, though. We know Lasseter is letting the directors determine the medium of their films so there are a couple CG ones in the pipeline, but it's good to know there is still room for pencils at the Hat Building! In 2011 animated fans will get to see another Disney masterpiece from what my Bothans are saying.

2011? There's that year again. It keeps popping up. I'm starting to wonder...

Hi-hi
I don't understand why you seem to make a big announcement with revealing that the feature animation movie (and the 50th) to be released after Rapunzel will be a return to 2D ?
What about the Princess and the Frog due to 2009, a year before Rapunzel, which will really mark the return to 2D at Disney?
More, it's been nearly a year that Disney confirmed at Annecy festival in France that there were already a possibly future project in 3D and another one in 2D after Rapunzel, so this isn't a big surprise anyway...
The real question today is : what are these projects?
For the 3D one, rumors went for a while to a certain Joe Jump, and others rumors about the 2D one are King of Elves, Ramanaya or Snow Queen...
Maybe this isn't any of these but i guess today this is what Disney fans want to learn in fact, don't you think?... ;)

I think he was just announcing that the 50th animated film was being approved. Since that's a celebratory number I think. Right Honor?

Well David,

Like anonymous said my point is it's a pretty special number in that it's their 50th one that is getting the go ahead. So that's one of the main reasons I let everyone know. As for what it was...

Well at this time only a small amount of people are really in the know regarding what the story is. I actually don't know what the name is or which one it will be. I've been told some basic plot elements and how the people that are in charge of it think it's pure Disney and are very happy with its direction. As of right now if I did know the name I wouldn't tell anyone for fear that my Bothans(sources) would be getting pink slips. It would be kinda easy to know who let the cat out of the bag at this point since so few actually know the details.

Hope that helps explain my reasons for the post.

I absolutely understand your reasons of course as i well know the Disney rules (i worked on Tarzan so...).
Maybe i didn't exactly point your first announcement because i'm french! ;)
Whatever, it's always a pleasure to read your blog and of course i'm so happy that the 50th Disney go that way. Thanks!

I just hope that they get Alan Menken and his choice of lyricist to do the music for the 50th. He's earned it.

The Menken comment was mine, forgot to put my name in! Really hope he's doing the 50th after they took him and Slater off The Princess and the Frog
