I'm just sitting back enjoying the people riding my attraction...
Walt Disney Animation Studios has released a clip from their upcoming hand-drawn animated feature...
"Winnie the Pooh" will be in theaters on July aweewe, and it'll be a warm, loving look back to one of the classics of Disney Animation. After that, we get a year of reprieve from the Hat Building and then the new slate begins. I can't wait for the Reboot. Err, I mean reboot.
Who knows, if enough seats fill the theaters there might be enough support for a bit of plusing that attraction in Disneyland...

I've always thought that the problems with the Pooh attraction at DL were a lot deeper but different than what others thought. I understand that neither the CA or FL Pooh rides will ever be what TDL's Pooh is- no piecemeal upgrades over time will ever make them equal. And I don't mind that. I think that there's an art to doing a dark ride on a budget, and while I'm sure TDL's is amazing (only having seen video), I find Florida's very enjoyable- Disneyland's, er, well, not so much. I've thought and thought about why I like WDW's and not DL's and I think it comes down to some simple things, choices that were probably made early on that nobody probably even thought about after they were made. Scenery. That's it. DL's Pooh has a short scene at the beginning, the Blustery Day scene, with some green trees and blue sky. It's very cheery and feels to me the most like a Pooh film. Then we are plunged into a rainstorm and the rest of the attraction (with the arguable exception of the Heffalumps and Woozles segment) exists within the brown drab recesses of Pooh's house. I feel like the whole ride takes place in just two locales, that cheery grassy area, and then in Pooh's house. Essentially, WDW's version has the same scenes but the arrangement is different and perhaps that makes it feel less monotonous. Even though it's essentially a mural with one or two dimensional characters, their finale Birthday scnee at least takes place outdoors. DL's is still- yep, you guessed it, in Pooh's house. It sounds silly now that I've written it all out, but that really is the gut feeling I get coming off of the DL Pooh attraction: "That was too drab and brown". And to get back to the Heffalumps and Woozles scene, it seems that the WDW and TDL versions stuck much closer to the H&F color schemes from teh film, resulting in a much more pleasing look. Seems the favorite color in DL's H&F scene is Neon pink. I wonder if the art director on DL's Pooh ride couldn't have spent a little more time learning about how color affects people from John Hench.
I've never been a huge Winnie The Pooh fan but I've just started reading the Illusion of Life and I've fell in love with traditional animation all over again (not that I ever stopped). It all looks so whimsical, the old school mixed with the most up-to-date understanding of animation; Rabbit in particular looks gorgeous to watch.
Two weeks to go!!
"...there is this rope"
Looks good.
I hope this movie gets Pooh Bear out of the hole he's been is for a while.
I can't wait for this to show up on DVD later in the year. I'd see it in theaters... but I'd have to kidnap a small child to take with me or something. Pooh's got a bigger 'only for babies' vibe then other characters.
As much as the animation is unbelievably good, the new actors are annoying. Only in the sense that they're not the ones I'm used to from all the shows and specials. When did they go about changing everyone up? I could have sworn the trailers for the past few shows and DVDs had a more similar voice cast to the 90s cartoon.
Wow...that clip was fantastic. The character animation is so fluid and expressive, and the humor is perfect for these characters. Can't wait until opening day!
"July aweewe"
July whatnow?
Looks like something that only a few years ago would have been a Disney Toons direct-to-video project. Why does Lasseter have Feature Animation wasting their time on this stuff ? They are capable of much more interesting work than this.
I got to see the film at a screening in London a couple of weeks ago (part of the BFI’s Disney screenings this year).
Personally I loved it. The next part of the clip that has been released is classic. There is also one line delivered by Roo that so threw me, it was hysterical.
The animation is top-notch both in this and Ballad of Nessie.
Going to see it again when it opens in the cinemas here shortly and I hope it is a hit.
Now I'm torn... I want to see The Ballad of Nessie, but that clip made me not want to see Winnie the Pooh. There was nothing bad about it as such. It's just as someone else said: this is a direct-to-video release. I watched this stuff on Saturday morning when I was a kid.
Direct to video? My gosh, some people don't see the difference between feature animation and disneytoon studios...
This weekend I'm going to see the movie (with my niece and nephew to cover me, haha).
So excited!!!
Well, that really is the problem isn't it Tom ? Some people apparently can't see the difference between what used to be considered direct-to-video type of stuff vs. what the mighty Disney feature animation studio used to be capable of producing (and still are capable of, in terms of the amazing traditional animation talent in the studio, if they'd only be let off the leash)
Loved it :)
Animation looks stunning, the jokes are great, songs are good, some things are too "modern" for me, but overall it's a great movie!!!
The Ballad of Nessie is cute :)
