$$$$$$...
$$$$$$...
Those of you that wondered what the new Disney Store would look like finally have your chance to see what all the hype is about...
Opening today at The Shops at Montebello is the first revised example of what the new "Imagination Park" as it's sometimes called will be. So if you live in Southern California you might want to brave traffic and take a trip with your young boy(s) or girl(s) to, as Disney likes to say "The best thirty minutes of a child’s day."
Interested?
The best way to find out is to take the drive...

One of the new Disney Stores is opening at my local mall, the Shops at Mission Viejo, as well. Not for a few months, though.
I posted something on my site about Disney's reaction to the merchandise dollars they're losing to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Perhaps bringing these types of Disney Store concepts into the parks is the way to go.
Imagine Al's Toy Barn taking up shop (pardon the pun) in Pixar Place, and having interactive elements to help sell merchandise.

Are there any pictures online?
Funnily enough, this mall had a knockoff Disney Store back in the heyday of the chain (before they got out of hand with growth). It was low-rent and sad, but they did their best to mimic what Disney was doing in areas with a more free-spending audience. The Shops are nicer now but it is still an odd spot for it. Presumably, they paid for the right to have it.
I don't live in LA. I'll have to rely on pictures.
Here's their storefront:

Personally, it doesn't seem as grand as I had imagined. Looks quite simple in design.
I don't know. It seems like Bob Iger is a compulsive spender.
Well, you folks want the company to spend money, don't you? :D
I agree with the above Anonymous.
After all, as they always say, you have to spend money to make money.
