Flash Forward Episode Six: Scary Monsters and Super Creeps...

Once again, Blue Sky Disney is here to evangalize to you that, unlike me this Thursday, missed ABC's "Flash Forward" episode six; we have your Hulu fix, I mean links...

Episode Six - Scary Monsters and Super Creeps.

There aren't many television shows that I watch, but this new one is one of a handful of shows that I make a point of seeing or streaming from Hulu when I have the time. If you've missed the pilot or the last five episodes, shame on you. But start with episode two and hang on or in, depending on how you look at it (to see Ep. One you'll have to wait for reruns or DVD, sadly). With "Lost" leaving the Alphabet Network next year, this series will hopefully pick up where that show will leave off.

It's a fun ride...

The shows on ABC are truly better than the other networks. The production quality that goes into shows like FF, Lost and hopefully V, is incredible. So much so that the "ABC studios" moniker graces the shows credits.

I've been watching FF since the excellent pilot and have developed a number of concerns:

1. The show has never done an effective job of addressing the magnitude of the crisis. If I remember correctly, the Flash Forward supposedly resulted in the deaths of over 2 million Americans including the vice president. They had images of countless buildings--including the White House--being damaged by downed aircraft or other disasters. Despite such an unprecedented disaster, by Episode 5 you had the FBI struggling for budget approval and life seemingly have returned to normal.

If 9/11 showed us anything, under similar circumstances politicians would be throwing money at any crackpot with a remotely valid theory--not pulling people in front of a committee and trying to discredit their every word.

2. Can the writers come to a resolution without cheating the audience? They've given us bits and pieces of the destinies of many characters. Will these destinies come to fruition or will the writers take the lazy way out in the form of "since people got a glimpse of their future, the future was irrevocably altered." I'll stick with the show for this year but any future viewing depends upon how realistically things are resolved this season.

3. What direction will this take in Season 2? Season 3? The show is called "Flash Forward" so you can't simply have the crew start to investigate other strange phenomenon. So what....a second flash? Third flash?

I LOVE this show too, but I have had some of the same concerns that tjkraz has.
I will be VERY curious where they go with this show.
I suspect that this show will run out of steam early. I suspect it should be able to maintain it's greatness this season, but I can't imagine that this will be that good in later seasons.
But that's OK. ABC has a BIG hit on their hands and as long as they know when to say when, we should be OK.

Hunter, I'm curious what you think of ABC's other new offerings this season.
I like Modern Family and the Middle. I will watch Hank, but it's not my favorite show.
And although it's not a new fall show, I REALLY like Shark Tank.
And of course I can't wait for V!! Especially since I'm a child of the 80's.

Jedited, to be honest, I haven't seen them...

I really don't watch that much series television. I'm a book and movie man for the most part. Of the shows I like, "South Park," "The Simpsons," "24" and "Heroes" are about it. And I don't always get to see those. I stuck with "Lost" through the first season, but lost interest in it as more melodrama worked its way into the story. And the same has kind of happened with "Heroes" of late.

Although I am going to check out "V" as I am, like you, a child of the 80's...

Too bad you gave up on Lost, it is by far one of if not the best TV show on right now. You should really give it another try and at least watch through season 3 and look through it with different eyes. It is 200 times better than this god awful show. And "V" was 200 times better as well.
