No More Pooh...
It appears that the Disney Channel show: "My Friends Tigger and Pooh" will not be getting another season and will end its run after season two. Good luck to all those animators in finding new gigs. Hopefully things will start to look up for Disney Animation(TV and Film) later this year as we are really in a transitional period right now at the Mouse...

Is the show being taken off the air or are they simply not going to produce new episodes? Doing only a few seasons and then running them forever is par for Disney animated series, especially for a series aimed at preschoolers who will quickly grow out of it and others who will come in and think it's new.
Those poor animators in India will now have to work on other Disney projects, boo hoo!!
While I sympathize with anyone who is going to lose their job over this, I also think that's what Disney gets for kicking Christopher Robin to the curb and replacing him with a non-Milne character. Yeah, I'm one of those purists who is also eagerly awaiting the complete and utter failure of the Disney Fairies thing.

While I also don't care too much for the new character they created, it's not the first one Disney used in Pooh.
Remember that Gopher from the original "Winnie the Pooh" is a non-Milne character too...
I don't people are complaining about him.
I imagine they'll keep it on the air for a while. My 3 year old loves it. And it's been a great introduction to the Pooh universe for her. I don't think they need any new episodes, per se, but they should keep it on the air. The toddler shows are great introductions to the Disney universe for parents who want to introduce their kids to Disney early and often!
This show was not produced in India, it was produced in Glendale, Ca.
However it shouldn't matter whether it is Indians who are losing jobs or Californians, there is a group of people who thought they were going to be employed for the next year that now have to find work.
It is a very cute show. My little ones really enjoy it and I'm sad they aren't going to continue it. I've never understood why people got so upset over it.
As I mentioned in response to an earlier post, they did feature Christopher Robin in at least one of the episodes, but the creators had a very specific reason why they added Darby and did not really use Christopher Robin. For what it's worth, I don't think Darby really exists in the "Pooh Universe" outside of this show.
Also, Lumpy the Heffalump is another "new" character that Disney has added over the years.

This is how TV production works, Justin. I doubt that the rug was yanked out from under these people. It is very common for pre-school shows not to live past that magic syndication number.
I worked on Disney's Little Einsteins (produced in NYC) and that show was not renewed after the second season. It seems Disney may have a policy in place more strictly than other networks (Nick) who have had long running pre-school shows (Blues Clues, Dora, etc)
I'm sick and tired of Americans losing thier jobs to empoyers over seas. I have no sympathy for those that lose their jobs they stole from us. We had to lose our work to employ them. They should be ashamed knowing that they have stole our jobs, and putting our animators out of work! Indian's will lose thier jobs soon to somewhere else where Ovits can find a cheaper place to make his TV cartoons. so Indians and Philipinos don't get to comfortable, you took the work from the Koreans and the Japanese!

Someone will take your jobs. I'm thinking Africans.
Tink *~*~*, you really should take back what you just said.
Wishing for something to fail is unhealthy and unwise.
And I'm sick and tired of cynics wishing for things to fail. It's just plain wrong!
I'm not wishing for things to go bad, they are bad!!! I want jobs to come back to the United Sates how the heck is that bad!!!!
Mike, I understand that this is how the world works. I know that shows get canceled all of the time and people lose their jobs all of the time. That doesn't mean I have to be happy about it.
It is sad that a group of people were told that they were going to be employed for the next year and they had planned accordingly. Now they are being laid off, and that is a sad thing. It is very unsettling to be out of work, but that is the industry that they choose to work. They know it, and I know it.
I am truly saddened by all of the hostility directed towards the employees in other countries that are the beneficiaries of outsourcing. The only thing they are trying to do is earn a living and support their family, just like Americans. Is it their fault that companies are taking work to their country? Is it their fault that they live in a country with a lower cost of living than the US? If a Japanese company came to America and offered to pay me 2-3 times the median US wage for a job that I could do I'd jump at it. Is it my fault that the Japanese company I'm now working for just closed a shop in Tokyo in order to move it to the US? I'm going to do what is best for me and my family, and companies are going to do what is best for their shareholders.
two wrongs don't make a right! Think about that!
*Think about that for a minute!
and thank god for this!
a world with less Pooh is a better place.
