Incredible Art: Syndrome's Island...

Brad Bird is a great director and not a bad writer...

Ok, let's just say I believe him to be brilliant. I look forward to everything he's involved in(1906 can't come soon enough). Even though I love Disney, it's my dream that the Warner Suits suddenly get the bright idea, or possibly listen to me(fat chance) and hire him to write and direct a Superman reboot. He's perfect for it. Pitch perfect.

My favorite film of his is "The Iron Giant," but my favorite Pixar film is "The Incredibles" because it's such a jewel of smarts, fun and wonder. It's a geek's delight with all the layers of detail that it holds...

One of those details that I bet not many know the name of Syndrome's island lair. Some would say: "It had a name?" Yes, it did...

Nomanisan Island.

Clever, don't you think? No. Man. Is. An. Island. Simple and brilliant. Like the man and the film. Well, I think it's time to look at some preproduction art for the island:

All artwork is copyright Disney, of course.

"Nomanisan Island" was more a spoof off of the poem, John Donne's Meditation #17... no?

Brad Bird for Superman?!! I never even though of that before, what an idea!!. He would be perfect for it since he's technically already done two superhero movies, The Incredibles and the Iron Giant. One man I was thinking of was JJ Abrams to do Superman since Star Trek just looks phenomenal. I would definetly see that Superman, since I look forward to any new one. I also can't wait to see 1906 and the Incredibles sequel I think he'll be working on next. The Incredibles is possibly my most favorite animated film along with Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Ratatouille (my little brother just loves Anton Ego in that, thanks for that too Brad, you should've won for Best Original Screenplay) and a lot of other Disney classics. I loved the look of the island in the movie and the concept art looks so retro from futuristic serials they used to have in the 50's, hence the name of the city Metroville. PIXAR is terrific at concept art, all of them look exactyl like shots in the movie, exaclty, that's how good they are. Brad Bird and John Lasseter have the best mind on animation in the history of DIsney since Walt Disney himself.
