Disney To Make Live-Action Incredibles...

It had to happen with all the live-action remakes that Disney has been doing...

But it won't be in theaters. It'll be on television. On ABC, to be exact. And it looks pretty good. It's called "No Ordinary Family" and it certainly has a very talented cast led by Michael Chiklis. He's played superheroes before in the extremely flawed "Fantastic Four" and its sequel. I don't blame Chiklis because he was perfectly cast as Ben Grimm/The Thing. But his choice of not doing it CG made him look like a man in a suit. And a clunky script and the wrong director didn't help either.

But this could be interesting. If you've seen my post about the coming fall season on the networks you'll notice that I had very little from ABC on there. Not much interested me. NBC for the most part, and Fox have the shows that interest me when it comes to filling my valuable time with a boob tube. I had heard of this show, but didn't add it to that post because I wanted to wait and see what it was exactly. It could turn out to be great or incredibly cheesy. Well they've released the trailer for the series that will appear on the Alphabet Network this fall and it looks like it lands closer to the great side.

I'll have my remote/Hulu ready for watching...

Definitely not a new idea. But if they can keep it Character driven then it might actually be a good show.

"Chiklis needs to go back to the Shield."

You must have not seen the last episode if you think he could go back to that show...

An Incredible Family.

And then we'll see a series with a ratty family that opens a restaurant in Paris, and one about an old guy that travels to a different place each week, in a house, attached to balloons.

I did see the last episode. It's time for Vic Mackey, P.I.

Yeah, that will work. If it's a show from twenty years ago.

Da-ted.

More like 2 years ago. The Shield was the best cop show ever. I'd love to see Chiklis return to the role that made him a star. He's throwing away his talent with roles like Craptastic Four.

the pilot for this show was great. should do well this fall season. hopefully they can promote it more at comic-con this summer.

Yeah, that's what he should do reruns of his career.

Move on. The show is over. Going back to it doesn't show him as a better actor. It shows him as a worse one.

And showing Chiklis running around in tights makes him a better actor?

What trailer did you see? I didn't see him in anything other than a t-shirt and pants.

From what I hear the show is pretty good. It got great scores from the test screenings.

I'm pretty sure he had nothing to do with that decision. In fact I'm positive he had nothing to do with that choice.

Sorry Tuckenie,

But I saw Chiklis at Comic-Con that year talking about his decision to play the part and one of the main reasons he decided to do it was just that. He said that he wouldn't have done it if they were just going to CG him in the film.

I think he was wrong, because of the limitations of the suit. Truthfully, it looks worse than the Roger Corman version. With the advancement of graphics like Davey Jones, I think he would have been far more believable wearing one of those suits with ping pong balls on it.

Of course, even then he was hindered by a really bad script and the wrong person behind the camera.

If only the original script and director were still attached it could have been a much better film...

Trailer looks interesting, but didn't NBC just cancel a show like this? I think it was called Heroes.
I'll tune in nonetheless and check it out.

Some comic books/cartoons just aren't meant to be adapted into live-action. The Fantastic Four, The Avengers, and The Incredibles to name but a few.

Seems like "The Commish" meets "Heroes". Overall it strikes me as more family friendly than I thought "Heroes" was. I'll certainly check it out!
