The Genie Of Pencil And Paper...

The Animation Podcast has part one of an interview with Eric Goldberg, who those that don't know animated the Genie in "Aladdin. His Rhapsody in Blue segment of Fantasis 2000 was one of my favorite bits of that film. He's currently working on animating a jazz loving alligator named Louis in a little film that comes out next year called: "The Princess and the Frog"

Give it a listen...

Hat Tip to Cartoon Brew.

This reminds me of a funny experience I was privy to once in SoCal.

In 2005, they were having an animation panel at the Academy on Wilshire and Eric Goldberg was there with Brad Bird. Eric Goldberg (still on the outs with Disney) was trying to be all diplomatic and nice, while Brad Bird was trashing the crap out of all of the animation studios for not being original.

I felt so bad for Goldberg, because it was so obvious that he felt the same way and just didn't have the latitude to get away with it.

Brad Bird. What a hoot (no pun intended)!
