Endings...

Today "The Little Mermaid III: Ariel's Beginning" is released...

It's supposed to be the last release of the infamouse "Cheapquels".

The Cheapquels are dead...

Long live the cheapquels*.

* But not really...

That comes out in October. It doesn't involve any of the other characters it exists in its own world: Pixie Hollow.

Ah Disney animation, animated in the Philippines, where ever it's the cheapest they go. http://www.tooncity.com.ph/portfolio.html
It used to be Japan and Korea, now it's done in the Philippines and India, what's next Africa, where ever Disney can save a buck over quality!!!

This is truly a glorious day!

The last cheapquel, I'm gonna celebrate in Disneyland Paris tomorrow :)

The few bits I've seen in the commercial appear well-animated. I assume this is going to be like the other cheapquels--a few well-animated bits good for trailers, then lots of bits where the animation quality drops significantly.

Although the Little Mermaid II was certainly higher quality than many of the cheapquels.

Did Lasseter have any input in the editing, at least? Whichever, I'll be glad to see this Disney tradition pass.
