Sure it's fluff, but it looks like really fun, pop-culture fluff...

Garbage. Michael Bay doesn't know how to direct. He should go back to making commercials. I don't know how you can rip Indy 4 and then give Transformers a pass. I'll take an average Spielberg film to the junk that Bay makes any day of the week.
