Buy The Numbers...
The 2009 attendance figures for theme parks are out...
And the Mouse leads in all categories. Even if there is a large amount of competition, it really isn't close on most fronts as you'll see in the data. Of course, that said, I don't want the folks at WDI or the Team Disney Building in Burbank getting any swelled heads. Complacency is the graveyard of many a company.

Anyone notice that one disney park is missing?
I have heard over and over again that Tokyo DL is the most visited park in the world, from various sources including Disney documentaries on the Tokyo park. Yet the official numbers I have seen never supported that view, and the new figures again do not have Tokyo DL or DisneySea at the top. Is there anybody out there who has some information about this? I´d be grateful for any help, thanks!
Walt Disney Studios Park is missing because of the way the visits are counted at DLP.
Yes, I did. So, if anyone is shocked that Disney Studios Paris didn't make the list, then its obvious they haven't visited. I did.....and yikes..just yikes. It makes California Adventure look like EPCOT in comparison.
Before the expansion with Tokyo DisneySEA, it did get the highest attendance of any park. After TDS opened it gave those guest another area to explore and was down a notch or two. But the claims are/were accurate. It still draws millions, but the addition of a second gate diluted those numbers.
For the record though, Japanese are still the most fanatical of all Disney fans. Nobody loves to spend as much money on the Mouse's merchandise as them. That's one reason the OLC feels so confident about spending lavishly on attractions.
It's good to see Disney is still on top. I too hope they don't overlook this as people will come no matter what. The last thing we need is even less investments in the Parks & Resorts category.
I'm curious to see next years report however, with Harry Potter opening in Universal Orlando. Will they draw the crowds they're expecting and will that affect Disney's attendance with any significance.
its great to note that disneys california adventure outpaces universal studios in hollywood , in orlando and Islands of adventure it had a 9 percent increase and is defintely on the upswing
In response to the question about walt Disney studios paris it brings in a little over 2.5 million but isntl isted because it is low on worldwide and europe numbers.
I'm surprised and not surprised (if that makes any sense) at the HUGE dispartity between DL and DCA. DCA doesn't even get half of DL's attendance.
I'm glad that Disney is spending the most money on their number 16 and number 11 ranked parks (HKDL and DCA). And they have spent a fair amount of money on Studios Paris lately as well. That is smart.
