On this day in 1995 Walt Disney World broke ground for its Fourth Gate: Disney's Animal Kingdom. I know the art is a little different. This is what it was actually going to be called: "Disney's Wild Animal Kingdom"... can you imagine that acronym? DWAC? Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on your perspective, Mutual of Omaha threatened a lawsuit and the "Wild" was dropped. But Disney did drop 800 million for this park... it would of been around a billion had they built "Beastly Kingdom". Who knows... there still is the future. Right?

It's interesting that DAK cost $800 million to build, but California Adventure is getting $1.2 BILLION for refurbs.
