Cloudy Competition...

The trailer for Sony Pictures Animation's next feature "Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs" is out...

Looks cute.

But will it be as big as "Up" and "Monsters Vs. Aliens?" That's not trying to compare them; these films have to stand on their own. It looks entertaining. I hope it is. We'll find out in September.

Until then, things will remain cloudy...

I think it looks fantastic! I can't wait for it! I sure hope it blows Monsters Vs. Aliens out of the water. It looks like it will.

I would rather see this than monster vs alien. But in the end I am sure I will skip them both.

That's got to be the most bizarre thing I've ever seen.

I like it.

So is an old guy in a walker turning his house into air ship with thousands of Mylars and old sheets more or less believable?

House goes up
Food falls down.

Got it.

Yuck. They took a really cute children's book and turned it into another dumb "fish out of water learns a lesson after he screws up" story.

And the character design is...meh.

I will not be seeing this.

I think the character design looks great. The main guy looks like a muppet which is AWESOME by the way.

I wont be seeing it but looks like an upgrade from the past sony animation films.

I used to read this book all the time in school so I'm surprised more people aren't familiar with it. Personally I think they did a very nice job of matching the aesthetics of the film with the book. Yes the art style is completely different (the books illustrations are pretty dated looking) but it fits the tone of the story beautifully.

I for one am looking forward to this.

I'm looking for to this too, it looks like a really good time. Also the directors are the Clone High dudes so if you're a fan of that then you maaaaay be interested in this too.

The fact that the characters look like muppets isn't a good selling point. The gags look cute though - for a kid's movie.

Speaking of muppets, I sure hope to god Disney isn't actually going to make a muppet movie. In terms of lameness, that's up there with all those excruciatingly horrible "Air Bud" direct-to-DVDs. Who needs muppets anymore anyway?

^Looks like somebody doesn't like The Muppets.

Agreed. I love the book but this movie doesn't even look like it keeps with the same style.

It would have been really awesome as 2D animation.

Yeah what's wrong with the muppets? I mean did they just all of a sudden get lame or have you just never been a fan?

I agree most newer muppet featureshave been pretty crappy but I'd love to see them in another good live action film.

Looks stupid.

Answer to Seth: I liked them once, but then rented the Muppet Show DVD, I think it was the first one, with Kermit on it...and...dude...some things just don't stand the test of time. My kids had no use for it either, which is why I didn't buy it. Heck, if "Cars" had been around when I was a kid, I'd have had no use for the Muppets either. No comparison in terms of coolness.

As for new stuff...who the hell is doing (and ruining) Kermit and Miss Piggy now? They suck! I saw some kind of interview with Kermit dissing Miss Piggy and when did he become a total jerkwad? Jim Henson has to be spinning in his grave. And I hate Miss Piggy's new voice. Awful.

So the old stuff is dated and the new stuff sucks. There's your answer.
