Pixar premieres "Ratatouille" in Paris, France tonight.
The city that's the location for the film will host the French premiere on the banks of the Seine at Pont Alexandre III, Quai des Champs Elysees.
John Lasseter, supreme ruler of the Glendale Kingdom will attend. Director Brad Bird, CEO Bob Iger and Walt Disney Pictures Chairman Dick Cook will also attend along with a collection of famous chefs. Patton Oswalt won't be attending as he's not in this version. For the French version they ironically had to find someone... well, French. I guess we Americans aren't obnoxious enough, eh?

I just saw Ratatouille for the 2nd time, and needless to say it's an incredible film. The second time through I picked up on a subtle metaphor that is somewhat germane to the issues discussed in this blog - and I haven't seen it mentioned in any of the reviews of the film: Auguste Gusteau is Walt Disney. After his death the once top quality food/films decline under the management of the greedy and talentless Skinner/Eisner et al.
Not only does Skinner continue to serve up Gusteau's old recipes over and over without adding anything new, but on the side he pawns off Gusteau's image to sell a line of cheap and terrible frozen dinners (a la Cinderella 3: a twist in time). I don't know how much further you can read the metaphor - is Linguini Pixar and Remy John Lasseter or Brad Bird? I don't know, but it's something to think about.
i think linguini must be bob iger, cause he's a suit who knows how to let the creatives do their thing. also worth noting in this analysis is that gusteau's restaurant is condemned at the end and a new restaurant is opened with a rat/human combination, which is to say that disney as we know it is dead, but disney-pixar is new and better
