It Has Begun...
Even though construction had already started on office facilities and a round house for the Red Cars weeks ago, groundbreaking officially began today of "Cars Land" in the Timon parking lot.
Counting the days till Summer 2012...

Awesome.
Carsland can't get here fast enough for me!
...BTW
At this point, is WDI locked on the name "Carsland", or is there still a chance that it could be called something else?
I implore WDI: please settle with Radiator Springs as the official name of the land.
I agree with the above poster, please rename the land to Radiator Springs.
As much as I agree with everyone, as of now the "Cars Land" name is what that land will be known as...
It doesn't mean they couldn't change the name before it opens up. After all, it's three years away or even after it opens (Remember that Euro Disneyland became Disneyland Paris two years after it opened). But as of now, there are no plans for that.
Route 66, would be the best name as it's what Lightning traveled along to the way to get to California. It also is disappearing from the Paradise Pier area and could be used over in the new are, and is broad enough to allow other attractions to be placed in that have nothing to do with Cars.
If you want the name changed, e-mail Disney. Write letters, respectfully of course. And next time you're there, go to City Hall and tell them so... again, respectfully.
Well Radiator Springs is my second choice after something more to do with Route 66.
Carsland being the last option.
All this work is very exciting/
"All this work is very exciting."
Yes, it is!
Well, whatever happens with the name, at least this will be a detailed land; a real life version of the town of Radiator Springs.
I'm really looking forward to seeing that beautiful desert landscape.
...Oh, and just to let everyone know, today the "Blue Sky Cellar" closes to get an update and will reopen on July 16 2009.
I hope the area will not be named "Carsland". Hopefully something else. I like Radiator springs. But then again I would like things other than the Cars theme to be there. So I dont know. We should brain storm
Yes, I think we can al agree that there ar many names for the land that are much more creative than "Carsland".
However, we should probably count our blessings. A project of this size and scope would have been just a dream several years ago.
/\ are* many names, I meant.
"However, we should probably count our blessings. A project of this size and scope would have been just a dream several years ago."
And reality several decades ago.
