20,000 Writers Under The Sea...
Actually, it's only the third writer, but it sure does feel like that many sometimes...
Finally, there is good news regarding the Nemo/20K prequel. Justin Marks, who replaced Bill Marsilii is being replaced by "Braveheart" scribe Randall Wallace. This is indeed very good news. Wallace tends to write the kind of sweeping, macho action-adventure that I can see this becoming. And I could see it being good depending on how much of a rewrite it is. Hopefully there'll be more changes coming as well. First off, please let Will Smith choose to film MIB 3 so that he's not available to play in this. Get someone who could fill the bill better, like Eric Bana, hello? Like I keep mentioning. He'd be perfect. Oh, and one last change please. Someone replace McG with a director that knows story. Michael Bay, you need not apply.
Hey, I can dream...

Key words: "depending on how much of a rewrite it is."
the saga continues...
Wallace is a over-rated, two-bit hack who's totally willing to let an original author (in this case, Verne), or history itself, be damned for the sake of his schmaltz that even a soap-opera writer would be embarrassed for. Braveheart was tolerable, but the history was wrong in more ways than even Disney's Pocahontas. Pearl Harbor was a disaster.
Personally, the idea of a prequel bothers the crap out of me. These days of Hollywood having to show on screen every single little detail are really bothering me. 20,000 Leagues worked because there was so much we DIDN'T know. And we're better off not knowing.
Everytime I read about the 20K prequel and the role of Nemo, I'm keep expecting someone to mention the actor who, to me at least, seems to be perfect for the role: Naveen Andrews, who plays Sayid on Lost.
Since Nemo is of Indian descent, Naveen would be perfect casting. Aside from that, he already works for Disney's ABC arm. Best of all, he is an excellent actor, who could add a lot of depth to Nemo.
I'd be interested in feedback from you and your other readers ...
I like the idea of Eric Bana since he was so great in Star Trek and was the better Bruce Banner, he should've been in the 2008 version instead. Randall Wallace is a great writer, if you've ever seen Braveheart or We Were Soldiers, which is a great war movie. I'd rather see, if this gets made, Gore Verbinsky make this, giant squids, adventure, drama, he's perfect for it, him or Jon Turteltaub, I just lloved National Treasure 1 and 2 and can't wait for #3 and Sorcerer's Apprentice.
What difference is it going to make if McG is directing? If McG is going to direct, don't expect a good film. T:Salvation was awful.
